Online Casino Gambling

In Philadelphia a new poll that had been conducted among the citizens, states that more than 50 per cent of the population favored slots gambling. Most of them do not oppose any gambling facilities as long as they are not in the center of the city. Philadelphia’s waterfront was an acceptable alternative, they say. The survey had been organized by the Pew Charitable Trusts’ Philadelphia Research Initiative.

Their report reveals that 53% of the interviewees actually like gambling slots on online gambling sites, whereas 41% are against it. The Research Initiative asked 800 adults about their opinion on slots. Since the SugarHouse Casino plans to open up a branch in Philadelphia they wanted to make sure that the majority of the people is content with their plans. In fact, 60% of the people they surveyed would like to have a slots casino near the Delaware River. 35% did not like that idea at lot.

The poll had been conducted with the CATI method – computer assisted telephone interviews. That method guarantees reliable figures. Larry Eichel, project manager and director of the Philadelphia Research Initiative, is satisfied with the response they had.

However, the poll did not ask for reasons for the answers the people have given. But Eichel concludes that most people favor a gambling parlor outside the side, not downtown because it is out of sight, and therefore out of mind, too. Not so many people would come near it during their daily routine. Interesting, but not surprising, is that women rather reject the construction of a new casino whereas men usually support it.
