In the United States, some casinos have to face a strong struggle since the trend for land based casinos is decreasing. Gary’s casino licenses are said to be moved to Borman Expressway before the General Assembly gathers again for a session. Officials claim that the casino gambit had been offered too late. The session might turn down the transfer of the licenses since they are not able to give the proposal proper consideration.
Luke Kenley, insider and observer of the online gambling industry says that a transfer of licenses of a casino was big step and needed some reflection before a legislative action follows. “The transfer will not happen this year”, he predicts.
Due to the recession the gambling industry in land based casinos had to deal with a downfall. However, statistics reveal, that the recession is not consequently the cause for the decrease in business. “The trend of playing online casino games is constantly increasing”, Kenley states. Apparently more and more land based casinos have to deal with the economic decline whereas online casinos are not confronted with the issue.
Gary’s casinos have to face the consequences. Their representative Charlie Brown is convinced that this deal would help the casinos to recover from it. “If we sell out licenses to Borman Expressway we have a good way to recover from this”, he says optimistically. Usually the General Assembly hesitates to give approval for projects like that. If the licenses are handed over two big players of the industry would join. The market transparency and the economic pluralism might suffer from this. “In the end we only care for players”, the General Assembly declares.
