Online Casino Gambling

Since 2006 US citizens who want to play at online gambling casinos have been struggling to play because of the restrictions set by the US government. Most online casinos denied Americans access to their online gambling world. But now some European gambling casino operators might soon get another chance to enter the US online gambling market. A lot of US players have chosen foreign casinos instead and now the US is thinking about moving the barriers and deregulating online gambling again. Currently the law makes it very difficult to transfer payments to online casinos.

“The officials have realized that there is still a lot of gambling going on out there and they are thinking about taking the advantage of the revenue for them”, says Gavin Keller, an analyst and observer of the online gambling industry. The United States is now interestedly looking at the monetary potential of online casinos.

The biggest challenge, however, will be to overturn the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act. Barney Frank, Democrat of Massachusetts, tried that two years back in 2007. It seems that the Democrats’ attitude towards online gambling is more liberal that the attitude of members of the Republican Party. PricewaterhouseCoopers published a survey that said that the US government would be able to raise revenue of more than $50 billion in about 10 years from online gambling alone.

Although the outlook does seem positive one must not forget the strong opposition of groups like the Christian Coalition of America and the National Football League. If the UIGEA is going to be changed the government has to face a strong campaign of lobbying and letter-writing to avoid any changes of the law.
